  • Class Times: There are no mandatory class meetings for this course. Instead, students are expected to work on their own to meet the deadlines posted in the course. Students should expect to spend 7-9 hours a week working on this course.

Course Project

  • Students in this course complete a Final Course Project.
  • During this course, you will complete the course project. In each unit, you will submit one Final Project Part. Each time you submit a Final Project Part, you will receive teacher feedback. You will use this teacher feedback to compile your Final Course Project and submit it for 10% of your course grade.

  • Course Description:

    Imagine some music playing..."Head, shoulders, knees and toes. Eyes and ears, mouth and nose. Head, shoulders, knees and toes."

    WOW, what a remarkable body you have, so many individual parts come together to make you so special and unique. Like the human body parts, the Earth's land, air, and water play a vital role in your survival. So many different pieces are coming together to sustain life. In this course, you will explore Earth's land, air, and water resources to determine how the Earth plays an essential role in living organisms' overall health and life.

    The purpose of this course is to develop a more profound interconnected content knowledge of Earth, Physical, and Life Sciences. You will also gain key skills of planning, gathering information, analyzing, interpreting, and using evidence to support your claims. These are skills that will benefit you as a budding learner and adult. The goal of this course is for you to develop an appreciation for science and the physical world around you. You should be able to hold discussions about science concepts related to your everyday life and develop skills to enter careers of interest.

  • Standards Alignment: The curriculum used in this course is guided by the SC College- and Career-Ready Standards for Science Grade 6.
